Hey! I’m Danica Salajko creator of Bathing Belle Swimwear. I’m the crazy lady in Roncesvalles Toronto, who custom makes bathing suits! 

How it Started

My mom and aunt opened a custom swimwear shop in Toronto in the late 80’s. I grew up watching how they took care of every customer, and listened to their needs, and worked with the client to find a style of swimsuit that was just right for them! They taught me how to produce a suit from start to finish. Good thing I loved to sew!

I graduated from George Brown College Fashion design program, and worked as a wardrobe stylist, and production assistant for film, television, and photography for many years. I learned all about what happens “behind the scenes” of any production, and how hard these teams work! I loved working on set, I still miss the laughs and the banter in the studio! I’m so lucky I got to work with so many talented artists! Working in this industry taught me how important attention to detail is. 

One winter we were vacationing with our friends on the island of Bonaire, and one asked the million dollar question:

What are you waiting for? Your stuff is so good, and you would be helping so many people!

I always wanted to open my own shop, but I was scared. To scared I wouldn’t make my rent, scared I was going to neglect my family…I gave myself every excuse why I couldn’t do it!

It wasn’t until a sunny afternoon in September I was walking by one of my favourite shops on Roncy The Old Country Shop, and saw an ad in the window for their upstairs apartment for rent.  I don’t know what it was, but I KNEW this is where Bathing Belle would be born! 

2018 Bathing Belle Swimwear opened its doors to the public at 355 Roncesvalles Ave! It was so nice to see this dream become a reality! Finally a place to showcase all my designs! So here we are! I’ve been making women, men, non binary, kids all feel good in their own skin! I’m putting them in the best swimsuits they ever had! Custom Canadian swimwear made right in my Toronto boutique and shipped all over the world, my M.O. (other than going backstage at a Weird Al concert) is to flip the swimsuit shopping experience upside down -- especially for those who find it difficult. We welcome you with our Jungle hallway, that leads you to our welcoming boutique, and custom fittings in our flamingo change room!

I feel there’s not only a lack of customer service in the industry, but FUN as well! Whether you get the in-store treatment, or shop online, I want you to feel like you’ve found the easiest, breeziest solution to swimsuit shopping at Bathing Belle!
